Provides a place where the congregation regularly gathers for worship, education, and spiritual nurture. Responsibilities include:
- Provide for worship of the people of God, including the preaching of the Word, the sharing of the Sacraments, and for the music program, in keeping with the principles in the Directory of Worship.
- Assist the pastor in creating an appropriate space for worship that shall be as conducive as possible for effective services
- Recruit and train ushers
- Ensure the elements are prepared for the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper; provide elements for home communion.
- Recruit elders to serve communion for monthly Lord’s Supper worship service.
- Recruit persons to serve weekly as worship lay leaders for each worship service.
- Work with the pastor to plan special worship services, both at the regular hour for
- worship and at other times, as well.
- Oversee the music program and its integration into the worship life of the congregation.
- Keep sensitive to the needs within the congregation regarding worship and work to ensure that the diversity of needs is being met
