Christian Women Fellowship
The story of the Christian Women Fellowship (CWF) Movement of Presbyterian Church – USA is the story of God moving amid His people. It is the story of Almighty Father using ordinary women to heal families and communities through prayers, acts of compassion and worship songs or choruses. By God’s grace, CWF PCUSA has been empowered by the Holy Spirit to serve all people of God whole heartedly irrespective of race, nationality, or creed.
By His Mercy and grace, the seed that was sown in June, 2000 by six members of Silver Spring Presbyterian Church (SSPC), Silver Spring, Maryland took very firm roots in our congregation and beyond including States out of Maryland. The CWF PCUSA is also identified as Presbyterian Women (PW) that is a larger body of PCUSA. The CWF SSPC being the first CWF group in United States is popularly referred to as “The mother group”. It remains the largest among about the groups in Maryland, Texas and New Jersey with a membership of 131 approximately. CWF SSPC and the entire CWF PCUSA is open to all women 18 years and above who worship in any PCUSA congregation.
Our official attire is a yellow complimented by a white blouse with a single string of pearls necklace and pearl earrings. The shoes and pocketbook are white as well. There is also a purple for unofficial events that are missing a worship service. The color Yellow and all the elements on the fabric are with purposeful meaning for evangelizing. This is usually show cased during our Parade of our Uniform Colors in new members dedication ceremonies in worship service.
Our motto is ‘The Joy of The Lord is My Strength’.
While our greeting to one another is – “I can Do All Things through Christ Who Strengthens me”
