Responsibilities include:
- Develop, sustain, encourage, and support ways in which the human needs of the world can effectively be addressed by members of the congregation.
- Provide an overview of SSPC mission possibilities to session, recommend and justify a limited focus of organizations to support, including how much time and money is appropriate to make a difference, and obtain session approval. Educate the congregation and employ concentrated efforts throughout the year to emphasize the needs.
- Oversee the involvement of the congregation and its members in ministry to those in need locally, nationally and globally.
- Support local missions:
- Consider how our building is, and can become a mission site.
- Encourage and support those organizations who share our space to be effective in their meeting of human need.
- Cooperate with, and explore support to ecumenical and interfaith agencies in our community such as Shepherd’s Table, MUSST, Community Ministry of Montgomery County, Habitat for Humanity, Interfaith Conference.
- Support mission in the global community worldwide:
- Consider the international flavor of our own congregation and where we want to invest money and interest.
- Consider PCUSA Projects.
- Consider Sister Church.
- Consider Peacemaking initiatives
